The Season That Changes Everything
Every season of our lives asks something new of us. Sometimes it asks for courage. Sometimes it asks for stillness. Sometimes it asks us to rebuild from the ground up, even when the next steps feel unclear.
In the first episode of Seasons: The Edit, Janie and I share the stories behind our own transitions. For me, it was leaving a twenty year career in design, walking through a divorce, watching my kids leave for college one by one, and starting over in a new state with a new dream. For Janie, it was motherhood, loss, reinvention, and the resilience that comes from faith and experience.
Neither of us knew the exact shape of what was coming. We only knew we were not done growing.
The Season That Changes Everything
Big shifts rarely show up in a tidy way. They arrive as restlessness. Closed doors. A quiet feeling that your life is moving you in a new direction.
For both of us, that pull eventually led to real estate. It opened doors to new skills, new communities, new risks, and a shared journey that would become part of Curbvest’s foundation.
My background was in customer experience and design, where I helped some of the largest companies in the country rethink how they serve people. I never expected that work to translate into development, but it did. It became the bridge between how people want to live and the homes we create for them.
Janie’s path took her through sales, fashion, interior design, motherhood, and entrepreneurship. Every chapter gave her a deeper understanding of people, which is why her instincts in design and real estate feel so rooted and intuitive.
What We Learned
Episode 1 is an invitation. Not to be perfect, but to be willing.
Willing to change.
Willing to grow.
Willing to trust the season you are in, even if it feels uncertain.
Becoming is the real work of leadership.
